At the February 16 regular board meeting, the CCA Board approved the final plans and budget for the kitchen renovation. The approved plan calls for construction to begin in the kitchen next week. Volunteers are already packing up kitchen supplies and equipment so that the kitchen is totally vacant before work begins. The first phase of the project will be demolition. Appliances that will be replaced will be removed, many cabinets will be taken apart, flooring will be torn up, and counter tops removed. The contractor has agreed to be as respectful as possible of events that are held in the clubhouse on weekdays during working hours, but some noise and dust can be expected during demolition and the construction and installation that follow. Our friends in the Claremont Golf Shop have volunteered the use of their coffee brewer during construction, so coffee will still be available in the clubhouse during the hours that the Golf Shop is open. Those who regularly make the coffee for the clubhouse should check with Sarah in the CCA office for the temporary location of coffee-making supplies. Shortly after demolition begins there will be a poster in the clubhouse lobby showing the changes that will be made in the kitchen. It will be updated from time to time as the work progresses. All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of April. We hope you agree that the short term inconvenience of not having the kitchen available for a few weeks is a small price to pay for an updated kitchen that will serve the residents of Claremont for many years to come.
